Welcome to Christian author Sandra Petit's home on the web.

Hi! Thanks for stopping by to find out a little bit more about my life.

Family is very important to me so I will share with you some pictures of myself, my husband and two children as we traveled through the years.

Now more about me. I'm a born-again Christian since November, 1995 and love to serve the Lord wherever He leads. Seems right now He's leading me to writing, but I take it one day at a time. :-)

Living with me at my house are my wonderful husband of 20 years and two teenagers who have been homeschooled since, well, forever LOL . (I have information on homeschooling at my backyard site.) My husband, Todd, is my own hero, similar to those in the romance novels. He's handsome and reliable, and makes me feel like the heroine at the happily ever after, even when things go wrong. My son, Ben, is a wonderful young man. He's generous and thoughtful and a mother's pride and joy. He loves the computer and spends a lot of time playing on it and working with it. My daughter, Kati, is a very sweet young lady. She is a good friend and is very self-directed. She is interested in linguistics and loves to study languages. She will be (or has depending on when you read this) marry Jeremiah, a very nice Christian young man, in April 2007. I've been very blessed with my children. I don't know what I'd do without them. They are good kids.

Although not physically living with me, close to my heart is the baby we lost in miscarriage. Kristina is the name we have given that baby and since our family is represented here, I thought our heavenly baby should have a spot. Please visit Kristina's page. Kristina went to be with God in November of 1983. As anyone who has experienced this kind of loss can tell you, you never forget. So Kristina, this page is for you, sweetheart! Thank you, Lord, for the blessing of this baby. Though we were never able to hold her here on earth, I look forward to meeting her in heaven one day.

Major was our faithful Pomeranian. He died in July of 2000. Here are some pictures of Major as we remember him.

Mollie was born in March, 1999. She is an "All American" dog that we adopted  from the animal shelter. For more on Mollie, please go to Mollie's Cyber Doghouse.

I have a wonderful extended family. My parents are in their 80's (retired) and living in Louisiana. I have two younger brothers and an older sister still living. My youngest sister, Janet, was killed in a car accident in 1975. My sweet sister, Silvia, succumbed to cancer in 1990, as well as a precious sister-in-law, Cindy, in 1992. My family was saddened again when my young niece, Shelley,  was killed in a car accident in 1997. So you see, I know that we are not guaranteed xx number of years on this Earth. Don't delay taking care of your eternal life - it's forever, folks.

I also have a wonderful in-law family. My husband's parents are no longer with us, but he has two sisters and three brothers, most of whom live nearby. They're all great and I love them dearly.

I have a lot of interests. I really enjoy reading. I am, of course, partial to romance. Some of my favorite authors include Gail Sattler, Dee Henderson,  and Robin Lee Hatcher, and Lori Copeland and I have read almost all the Tim LaHaye/Jerry Jenkins series Left Behind which is tremendous. I have a list of authors on my author links page, but it by no means exhaustive.

I belong to a wonderful Christian writing club, American Christian Fiction Writers. They're a very supportive group of writers, spiritually and in many other ways. Go to the Writing Links page for some additional great resources for writers and readers alike.

Among the other things I enjoy doing is watching television (or videos) when I can find something interesting to watch. I enjoy some of the oldie shows like Dick Van Dyke and Scarecrow & Mrs. King. I have also enjoyed Touched by an Angel. I like hearing the "angels"  remind us that God loves us, each and every one of us, and would love to see us all join Him in heaven. Isn't it wonderful that God meets us where we're at? You don't have to become perfect before you're "eligible" for His gift. The "angels" in this show only give part of the message, however. You need to hear the rest!

I enjoy movies. but usually wait until they come out on DVD or video.

I like to play and work with the computer--e-mail, word processing, databases, web design etc. I spend a lot of time sitting. :-) I need one of those computers like Scotty had where you can just say "Computer, do this and that and give me a holler when you're done."

I also enjoy listening to contemporary Christian music artists. Steven Curtis Chapman and Michael W Smith are two of my favorites.

Another thing I like to do in my "spare" time is crochet. I have dabbled in cross-stitch and plastic canvas, as well as quilting and sewing, but my love is crochet. I have another web site devoted to crochet, Crochet Cabana. I usually crochet while watching television or videos. If you crochet or knit, there are a lot of folks who could use your talents.  For information on charities that would appreciate your handmade projects, visit my crochet site, Crochet Cabana. Many of these charities are good for those who knit, quilt and sew as well!

I have taken a liking to lighthouses and have a small collection of items featuring lighthouses. I also have a small thimble collection mostly made up of thimbles which have been given to me by friends. I like dolphins, too, but I don't collect them. :-) Recently, I was able to pick up a few pieces to start a Christmas village. I've often admired them and now I have my own mini-village thanks to a great sale at Wal-Mart and an understanding hubby.

An interest I have long had is sign language, as I am deaf in one ear. I regretfully must admit that I have not learned to speak in sign myself as of yet though a set of videos is on my Christmas list.

I prefer candy to cookies or cake and love chocolate, particularly Hershey's. I was diagnosed in August, 2002, with diabetes so I have been forced to curtail my inclination to indulge. I can still have those things, but not in the quantities I used to enjoy. This is a good thing, though. I've lost over 75# as of this writing. As a diabetic I can eat the same foods I ate before for the most part. I just have to watch quantities and get the right amount of exercise.

All in all, mine is a pretty normal home. We live and love and fight and learn and do some of the things you see on TV (well, no murders though I may get violent if you try to take away my chocolate, hee hee). Of course, we don't settle everything in a half hour or hour format. :-) I enjoy my kids and my husband, my writing, and my computer. What else can I say? I'm a Mom.

All that said, the thing I am most grateful for is my salvation and my sincere wish is that everyone reading this would accept the precious gift that God has offered us all--the gift of eternal life. If you think that it is difficult to do, it is not.  Read my explanation and if you have other questions you can e-mail me or check out the information at our church site. Remember, none of us has a guarantee of how much time we have left so make sure when your time here is up, you're ready. It's your choice. Smoking or non-smoking.
